Tips

Questions

Is Cruxword free?

Yes. The daily puzzle is free to play in your browser with no account and no download. Cruxword Plus is an optional upgrade for the full archive and unlimited practice racks.

When does the puzzle reset?

A new puzzle starts every day at midnight in your own time zone. Everyone who plays on the same date gets the same 21 letters.

How is my rank calculated?

The server re-scores every grid you submit and keeps your best one for the day. Your rank is one plus the number of players who scored more than you, so tied scores share a rank. Your percentile is the share of other players whose best score is at or below yours.

Which words are allowed?

Every run of two or more letters, across or down, must be a word in the Cruxword dictionary. Two-letter words count. If any run on the board is not a word, the grid cannot be submitted.

Can I play past puzzles?

Yes. The archive lists every past puzzle with its letters and par, the score of an example grid built by our solver. Play any of them and try to beat par.
